Hip Replacement Journey –Chapter 2

I am not a physician; I am telling my story about different things that helped to heal my body. I am a massage therapist. Jimmy Weise a networker, helped introduce me to many health related products in the last 32 years.  He has been very helpful in the health related field and with my nutritional background.  Nancy Carson turned me onto Valentus weight loss coffee and other organic beverages. Cathy Gahres gave me insight to the healing properties of the Living Young essential oils. Thus the broken hip journey continues.

I found out July 22, 2016 that I had a broken hip I was so calm and not worried when the doctor told me that I had to have emergency surgery.  This surprised me, that I was not hysterical.  I went immediately to the emergency room.  I had surgery the next morning and ate pizza that afternoon.  I had no pain medicine.  This surprised the doctors and nurses.  I was uncomfortable, but no pain.  I did not have a fever and was going to the bathroom properly.  No issues at all.  My weight even dropped.  I felt very healthy and strong after my first surgery.  I was told no bone cancer, osteoporosis, or any degenerative diseases.  The Valentus products were Italian roast coffee, trim, and the immune boost.  I was also eating raw foods, intermittent fasting, and counting macronutrients.  I was on 50 grams of protein as well.

October 2016 I started having pains and went back to the doctor.  I was put on a bone stimulator. Found out that my bones were not healing.  I had stopped all activities and working out.  I was teaching still and beginning to limp.  The Valentus products helped me to maintain my weight.  I had started putting on  weight and hit 180.  By the time school let out in May 2017, I had found out that my weight was down to 174 and I was to have a second surgery.  The doctor was pleased that I had gotten my weight down and found out I did have osteoporosis, and my bones were very brittle from lack of exercise.  The doctor told me the left leg was shorter than my right.  The surgery was four hours instead of two.  Dr. Desai had to take out all the old hardware and put in a full hip replacement hardware. He also lengthened my leg.  I have several small incisions from the first surgery and a huge one from the second surgery.  It has been a process to strengthen my new muscles and stretch my IT band down the side of the leg that helps to hold the knee properly. The second surgery I had an epidural and very little anesthesia.  The doctors were very happy with the surgery.  I was up and walking the next day and no pain meds. After three days I went home to heal.

I was not able to use the Valentus products for a month after surgery.  These were doctor’s orders.  I was able to use essential oils.  The oils I used were pan away, thieves, and frankincense.  These oils help the bones to heal faster and the muscles to be strengthened. The scars healed very quickly and no infections on the outside or inside the tissue.  I was able to go back on all products and was moving very quickly at the end of one month.  The doctor was so impressed to see the healing taking place.

Food is very important in the healing process.  I had to have high protein, good organic vegetables, and plenty of water, and I used the immune boost from Valentus for my immune system. The oils kept the scars lubricated and soft.  I did massage the scar tissue to keep it from getting stuck.  That is why physical therapy is so important.  Movement is very important to get the muscles working and not to atrophy.  It has been a blessing to walk without pain.  I am so thankful for all the extra products and support through this healing process.  Rehab and was amazing with detoxing the body to get rid of the anesthesia is the next hip replacement journey.
